Background of the Invention

Today handicapped people are struggling to do daily activity as they can’t even move from one place to another without external help. This makes them more dependent. This leads to physical as well as mental illness which make their life unpleasant.

Various types of foot and leg prosthetic devices are known in the prior art. Such devices generally include some form of attachment for coupling the device to the dorsal end of the limb and for extending to the ground to provide body support. Such prosthetic devices, particularly those intended to mount below the knee, are now frequently fabricated as an assembly having a leg region and foot like region, with some form of pivot there between so as to allow the foot portion to assume various angles with the leg portion and vice versa, as the wearer walks or goes through conventional motions.

However, the prosthetic legs or ankles of the prior art do not work in sync of the other body parts and thus cause pain and discomfort while continuous usage of the ankle. Further, these cause fatigue for long distance travel and do not have agility of walking with necessary coefficient of friction while traversing across terrains. Accordingly, there exists a need to provide an adaptive prosthetic ankle, which overcomes the above-mentioned drawbacks.
